【Able News Reporter Baek Min】 The Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled (Chairman Lee Jong-sung, hereafter the Agency) announced on the 14th that it has implemented the ‘Work-Skill-Path’ program for borderline youth who are in employment support blind spots.
The Work-Skill-Path program means a road that connects borderline youth with businesses. This program was established as part of the execution phase of the ‘Public Service Design Support Project’ sponsored by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Korea Design Promotion Agency to seek improvement measures for the employment support blind spots of borderline youth.
The ‘Skill Path’ connecting experience is an employment support program that connects borderline youth without work experience with businesses that have no experience in employing borderline youth, where three borderline youth participated in vocational training at three cafes under The Blue Co., from June 30 to July 11.
Prior to the vocational training, employment consulting was conducted for the businesses, and to ensure the smooth job adaptation of the participants, job mentors with understanding of borderline youth were placed in businesses in collaboration with the Seoul Lifelong Education Support Center for Individuals with Borderline Intelligence (MIM Center).
A borderline youth who participated in the program said, “I wanted to try anything, and I was glad to get a job in the field I had always wanted,” adding, “I have gained confidence that I can also work in the future.”
