[Economic Post = Lee Seok-kyun, Department Head] The Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled Employment Development Institute (Director Jo Yoon-kyung) announced that on the 4th, it held a pre-workshop at the meeting room of law firm DLJ to ensure the successful conduct of the 2025 International Forum on Disability Employment (hereinafter referred to as Forum), which is held as an official side event of the 2025 APEC Labor Ministers’ Meeting (hereinafter SOM 2, Senior Officials’ Meeting 2) to be held in Jeju in May, about a month away.
The forum is set to hold two sessions under the purpose of seeking collective efforts towards social value, namely ‘Policy support for inclusive employment and corporate efforts for the employment of disabled persons’ and ‘Expanding employment for disabled persons through technology and accessibility improvements’.
The pre-workshop held that day was attended by various stakeholders, including Korea Labor Institute President Heo Jae-jun who will lead each session, Professor Hong Seok-cheol from the Department of Economics at Seoul National University, representatives from domestic international disability organizations, domestic AI platform directors, and representatives from standard workplaces for subsidiaries of disabled people, who engaged in in-depth discussions on the forum agenda. In addition, Professor Lee Jong-ho from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Seoul National University (former Minister of Information and Communication), who was invited to give a keynote speech on the topic ‘AI and Disability’, also attended to share his insights.
