Strengthening R&D capabilities for disabled students in STEM··· 1.45 billion won budget allocated this year

[Ziksir / Reporter An Jin-young] #Yoon Ji-hoon (pseudonym, 30s), a graduate student at Gyeongsang National University, achieved the world’s first proof of “the possibility of treating chronic colitis using tropical and subtropical plants” last year with the support of the ‘Inclusion Growth Specialized Research Talent Development Project.’ Yoon said, “Thanks to the support of the lottery fund, I was able to focus on research and achieve excellent results.”

  The lottery fund is actively utilized to expand research opportunities for talented disabled STEM individuals and to create a sustainable employment ecosystem. This year, a total budget of 1.45 billion won will be invested to further expand the target beneficiaries.

  The ‘Inclusion Growth Specialized Research Talent Development’ project operated by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Evaluation and Planning (KIRD) based on the lottery fund focuses on enhancing the R&D capabilities of disabled college (graduate) students in STEM and expanding collaboration opportunities between disabled and non-disabled students. To this end, R&D capability enhancement programs are operated, providing field research, team projects, and exploration camps.
