Continuous management from job discovery to employment, monitoring and discovery of best practices
(Seoul Ilbo/Reporter Lee Ho-jeong) The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it is cruising through a ‘specialized job tailored to the type of disability’ that helps people with disabilities gain work experience in a job field that they can do well and get a job in a private job after participating in the project.
In order to efficiently manage and effectively operate specialized jobs implemented as a new project this year, we conducted an on-site inspection of the workplace with the job agency in early June. The Seoul Metropolitan Government is striving to enhance the effect of useful work experience, such as providing reasonable wages to disabled participants through actual work, rather than providing formal job support for people with disabilities.
‘Specialized Jobs Tailored to Disability Types’ is a project that considers not only the characteristics of each type of disability but also changes in the job market, and aims to discover and support suitable jobs for people with disabilities through public-private collaboration. For example, it is a method of discovering and proposing jobs for people with developmental disabilities who show strong characteristics for repetitive tasks to use unmanned information devices (kiosks) and guide facilities, and for people with severe muscular disabilities who have limited mobility, to monitor illegal and copyright infringing content.
It is evaluated that this project has a positive impact on various aspects, such as building job competencies while working in fields that can be done well according to the type and characteristics of disabilities, and at the same time improving self-esteem through self-development and social participation. In particular, the biggest feature is that it is highly likely to be linked to actual employment based on private job experience.
In fact, there are cases of successful employment through work experience accumulated in specialized job projects.
